Acceptance
By downloading, installing, or using Murmur, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app. If you use Murmur on behalf of an organization, you are responsible for making sure your use follows its policies.
Your license
Murmur is free to use for personal and professional work. You may install it on Macs you control and use it to produce text for any lawful purpose. You may not resell Murmur, redistribute modified builds as your own, or use its name or mark in a way that implies endorsement.
Cloud engines
Apple On-device is included with Murmur and runs locally. Google Gemini, Meta Muse, and OpenRouter are optional third-party services. You supply your own account and API key, and the provider bills you directly. Your use of those services is governed by their terms and privacy policies, not by Murmur.
Provider availability, model names, features, session limits, and prices can change without notice. Murmur does not guarantee that a third-party engine will remain available or produce a particular result.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use Murmur to:
- Break any law or regulation that applies to you.
- Record or transcribe another person without the consent required in your jurisdiction.
- Interfere with another person's privacy, security, or computer system.
- Resell, sublicense, or present Murmur as your own product.
Dictation happens in the app you are using. You are responsible for where you place your cursor and what you insert into a document, message, terminal, or form.
Availability
Murmur is a free, independently built app. Version 1.0.0 is available for macOS 26 or later on Apple silicon. Features, supported engines, and system requirements may change as the app develops. Murmur is not affiliated with or endorsed by Apple, Google, Meta, or OpenAI.
No warranty
Murmur is provided “as is” and without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Speech recognition can make mistakes. Do not rely on Murmur as the only copy of something important, and review text before sending it.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the maker of Murmur is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profits, or business interruption arising from your use of the app or a third-party engine.
Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated as Murmur changes. The current version will always live on this page with an updated date. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the revised terms.
