Download
Murmur 1.0.0 is available now for macOS 26 or later on Apple silicon. It is a native SwiftUI and AppKit app, not Electron or Chromium.
Requirements
- macOS 26 or later.
- An Apple silicon Mac.
- Microphone, Input Monitoring, and Accessibility permissions for dictation.
- A network connection only when using a cloud engine or downloading initial language assets.
Setup checklist
If the key goes down but no text appears, check these in order:
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security and confirm Murmur has Microphone, Input Monitoring, and Accessibility access.
- Choose Apple On-device in Murmur → Settings → Models.
- Put the cursor in a normal text field and hold Right Option.
- If you are using a cloud engine, check that its key is present and the engine is selected.
- Try a different microphone from Settings → General if the input level stays at zero.
More detail is in the FAQ on the home page.
Cloud keys
Murmur does not sell cloud access or proxy your requests. If you add a Google Gemini, Meta Muse, or OpenRouter key, that provider bills you directly. Check the provider's dashboard for quota, billing, and key status. Keys are stored in the macOS Keychain.
